It is unlawful to keep within the city any live pot-bellied pig which is more than twenty-two (22) inches high at the shoulder or weighs more than one hundred fifty (150) pounds, or any live male pot-bellied pig over the age of four weeks which has not been neutered. (Prior code § 3-9) 6.12.020 License required. It is unlawful for any person to maintain, within the limits of the city, a pot-bellied pig as permitted by Section 6.12.010 over the age of four mouths, without first obtaining from the city a license authorizing the keeping of such swine within the city. Violation of this section is an infraction subject to the provisions of Government Code Section 36900(b). (Prior code § 3-36) 6.12.030 License fees. A. A license fee in the same amount as established by resolution of the city council for dog licenses shall be collected by the city tax collector or the real control officer, who shall for this purpose be a deputy tax collector, from the owner of each pot-bellied pig, male or female, over the age of four months, located within the city. The license period is three years. B. A delinquency fee set by resolution of the city council shall be payable in addition to the license fee whenever a license is not renewed on or before the first business day after expiration. C. Any person who acquires ownership, custody or control of any pot-bellied pig not currently licensed pursuant to provisions of this chapter shall be immediately liable for the payment of the license fee and shall be liable for a delinquency fee as set by the city council if the license is not obtained within thirty (30) days. D. No license shall be issued for a current license period until such time as there is paid an amount equal to all delinquencies and fees outstanding for the prior license period in addition to the fee for the current period. (Prior code § 3-37) 6.12.040 Neutering certificate required prior to issuance for male pot-bellied pig. Prior to issuance of a license for a pot-bellied pig the owner must first present to the issuing officer a valid certificate signed by a veterinarian certifying that the pig, if male, has been neutered. (Prior code § 3-38) 6.12.050 Applicability of certain provisions on dogs to pot-bellied pigs. The following sections of Chapter 6.08 (dealing with dogs) are incorporated into this chapter with the sole change that the words “dog” or “dogs” are replaced with the phrase “pot-bellied pigs”: Section 6.08.010 (running at large prohibited), Section 6.08.020 (confinement of vicious or dangerous dogs and female dogs in heat; etc.), Section 6.08.060 (dogs to be confined or muzzled during rabies emergencies; etc.), Section 6.08.070 (habitual barking declared a nuisance; abatement), Section 6.08.080 (three time violators to have licenses revoked; etc.), Section 6.08.090 (dangerous dogs—revocation of licenses), Section 6.08.100 (confinement after having twice bitten human beings; etc.), Section 6.08.110 (destruction of dogs with revoked licenses which are not properly confined), Section 6.08.150 (tags), Section 6.08.160 (charges to be debt to city), Section 6.08.170 (duty of poundmaster, etc.), Section 6.08.180 (notice of impoundment; etc.), Section 6.08.190 (charges and fees), Section 6.08.200 (disposition of unredeemed dogs; etc.) and Section 6.08.210 (records and reports by poundmaster).
